Happy 20th birthday to Silk & Satin. This dance was first introduced to the public on Dec. 13, 1995 at a little bar and grill called Jelly’s located in the San Francisco waterfront. Michael Barr was the DJ. Every week Michael invited a local choreographer or instructor to introduce and teach a new dance. So, on that night I taught Silk & Satin. (I had previously taught it in my classes–for those of you who can remember that far back–but not to the general public yet.) It was definitely a memorable night. Here’s a photo of Jelly’s. At night you could see a great view of the SF skyline.
